Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a constant theme within Frisian Motors. Not only because of the environmentally friendly vehicles we produce, but also because we are actively working on it as a team. And this is probably what customers want from us as well.
The subject comes up regularly during meetings and the CSR policy is therefore becoming more and more extensive. Our policy is to take it up step by step with a feasible financial budget.
In 2017, we became a member of Freonen fan Fryslân. This is a network of more than a hundred companies, local governments and foundations with the goal of making Friesland fossil-free by 2025. You can find more information by clicking here. What particularly appeals to us about being a Freon is the common idea of creating awareness and getting in touch with each other, learning from each other in this way.
In order to keep you, the reader, informed about our approach and contribution for a better environment, we would like to tell you concretely how we participate in this.
LED lighting
Several years ago, Frisian Motors chose to replace the fluorescent lighting of the entire building with LED lighting. LED lighting has nothing but advantages over standard fluorescent lighting: the lifespan is considerably longer and consumption is at least 50% lower.
In locations where light is not always necessary - such as in the warehouse - a motion sensor hangs. The lights turn on when there is movement and turn off again when no more movement is detected. This prevents unnecessary power consumption.
Blue diesel
Frisian Motors' company buses have recently started running on blue diesel. This idea came about during Freonen van Fryslan. For blue diesel no fossil resources are used and there are significantly less harmful emissions.
Pellet stove
Frisian Motors' workshop is well insulated, so heating can be kept to a minimum. Since two years a pellet stove has been used. This pellet stove eliminates the use of gas, resulting in fewer emissions. In addition, it works more practically than a standard gas system.
Green electricity and green gas
Frisian Motors has long been using green power and green gas from a local initiative in Friesland called Boerderijstroom. The power purchased is generated through windmills at local farmers. The green gas is generated by burning biomass that also comes from local farmers.
Separated waste
Frisian Motors receives many shipments from suppliers every week. The waste from these is stored separately in IBC containers and is collected periodically by the Oosterwolde-based firm Oenema. Among other things, a distinction is made between car tires, Styrofoam, plastic and old paper.
Future plans
As indicated earlier, corporate social responsibility is an ongoing process. For example, we are currently looking at solar panels and sustainable cleaning products, among other things.
Frisian Motors is in the orientation phase for solar panels. The intention is to take part or all of the power supply into our own hands with these. We are also looking into the possibility of storing the generated power and using it to charge our electric vehicles.
In addition, Frisian Motors is currently in talks with a supplier of sustainable cleaning agents. These are cleaning agents that do not contain any harmful substances, thus saving the environment.
Suppliers
A better environment is only achievable if we all work together. That's why Frisian Motors also expects suppliers to take corporate social responsibility and the environment seriously. In this way, together we ensure a better and cleaner earth.
