Frequently Asked Questions

The Leffert FM-50/FM-55 goes about 50 km/h and the FM-90 4×4 goes about 45 km/h. The FM-40, FM-80 and FM-100 all go about 40 km/h. It is possible to have the maximum speed reduced by Frisian Motors, for example for safety reasons at events or recreational grounds. You can choose which limited maximum speed you want. This speed limit has two forms: fixed and variable. With a fixed limit, we ensure that the machine will not go faster than the desired speed. With a variable limit, a manager key allows you to switch between low and high speed.

Yes, all vehicles from Leffert transporter series comes standard with road approval. They have European type approval L7e-B2. The Leffert FM-40, FM-50, FM-55 and FM-90 comes standard with license plates. The Leffert FM-80 and FM-100 come standard with an agricultural license plate.

The Leffert FM-40, FM-50 and FM-55 are exempt from MOT.

The Leffert FM-90 is our 4x4 model and is above the weight exemption due to the extra motor. The following applies to the FM-90: a new car that runs electrically must pass its first MOT after 4 years. After the first MOT inspection, electric or gasoline cars must be inspected every 2 years until they are 8 years old. After that, they must be inspected every year.

The Leffert FM-80 and FM-100 are also exempt from MOT because they are agricultural vehicles by registration.

Should you buy a used vehicle it may also be under MOT due to a previous regulation, always check with the seller.

Vehicles equipped with an L7e license plate pay road tax under quarter rate. Vehicles with agricultural license plates are exempt from road tax.

Yes, our standard Leffert is registered with the RDW. Upon request, we can also deliver completely without registration.

No, you do not need a special charging station. Our vehicles are compatible with regular 220-volt outlets.

Yes, the AGM battery packs used by Frisian Motors are the most environmentally friendly variety of lead-acid batteries. These batteries contain no acid and are therefore more recyclable. The new type of lithium batteries are also reusable.

The range is determined in part by the type of vehicle, driving style and type of terrain driven. The Leffert has a standard Lithium battery pack. This allows approximately 60-80 km to be driven per full charge. In cold weather and heavy loads, the range can drop to 40 km per full charge.

The capacity of the battery decreases per year. Lithium batteries can be recharged 2000-3000 times. Our customers use lithium batteries for an average of 6-12 years.

For the FM-240, FM-40, FM-50, FM-55, FM-80, FM-90 and FM-100, Lithium comes standard in the vehicles. The batteries are lighter in weight but stronger in use. Also, these batteries last about six times longer than AGM batteries.

In short, all vehicles currently come standard with Lithium batteries. Should you go for a used vehicle it might still contain AGM batteries.

Standard charging takes 5-6 hours. Optional fast chargers are available, reducing charging time to 2 hours.

Most subsidies are for business users. We list national subsidies on our website, but it also pays to check with local governments for subsidies, such as municipal or provincial. Given that most grants are based on tax benefits, the final expected benefit is different for each applicant. For more information on subsidies, please see our subsidy calculator page.

If you are in the area of a dealer, we will initially refer you to a dealer. If there is no dealer in the area or you do not want to do business with the intended dealer you can contact Frisian Motors. If you want to try out a Leffert for several days, we recommend that you first rent a vehicle for a few days (this can be done at www.rentric.nl). Electric drive is more efficient than a fuel engine, the total energy consumed is lower and therefore better for the environment. In addition, much less maintenance is required because there are fewer wearing parts in the vehicles. If you use green electricity to charge or own solar panels , then it is completely an improvement for the environment.
